Is Naked Juice Healthy?

green smoothie recipes for weight loss

Naked Juice is a convenient and tasty way to add more fruits and vegetables into your diet, but is it healthy? Are Naked Smoothies healthy? Many people debate the pros and cons of drinking Naked Juice or Naked Smoothies as part of their regular routine. (Naked Juice should not be confused with Nude drinks, by the way! Nude is a completely different company that makes sugar-free, sweetener-free alcoholic beverages, like Nude Vodka Soda and Nude Gin Soda. Naked Juices are made from fruits and vegetables, and do not contain alcohol.)

On the plus side, Naked Juice provides a convenient way to get your daily servings of fruit and veggies in an easy-to-drink form. The juices are also nutrient-rich, containing vitamins A, C, E as well as essential minerals like calcium and magnesium. Depending on the type of juice you choose, you may also be getting beneficial phytonutrients which can lower inflammation levels in the body. Additionally, some flavors even contain added protein for extra energy throughout your day.

    Sugar content

However, one downside of drinking Naked Juice is that it can be high in sugar and calories (many of the flavors contain the disclaimer “Not a low calorie food. See full nutrition info for further information on sugar and calorie content” on their labels). Many of the juices contain 40 or more grams of sugar per container, which can make them an unhealthy choice if you’re trying to lose weight or control your blood sugar levels.

Is the Naked Juice Green Machine Good for You?

That depends on what you mean by “good for you”. A serving of the Green Machine Naked Juice will give you the following amounts of these essential nutrients (always check the product label for the latest nutrition information, as product formulations can change over time):

    • Calcium: 40mg (4% daily value)
    • Iron: 1.4mg (8% daily value)
    • Potassium: 760mg (15% daily value)
    • Vitamin A: 230mcg (25% daily value)
    • Vitamin C: 42mg (50% daily value)
    • Riboflavin: 0.3mg (25% daily value)
    • Vitamin B6: 0.4mg (25% daily value)
    • Magnesium: 40 mg (10% daily value)

Since these nutrients are a necessary part of a healthy diet, drinking a Green Machine is one way to get them.

If you’re concerned about sugar, however, the answer is probably no – the Naked Green Machine is not good for you. A 15.2-ounce bottle of Green Machine from Naked Juice contains 53 grams of sugar as of the date of this article, or 3.49 grams per ounce (see Green Machine nutritional facts here). For comparison, a 12-ounce can of Pepsi contains 41 grams of sugar (3.42 grams per ounce). Yes, the Naked Juice Green Machine contains more sugar per ounce than Pepsi. That’s not great if you’re trying to lose weight!

Naked Juice Labels with 450mL Serving Size

If you live in a part of the world that uses the metric system, your Naked Juice bottle may say that a serving size is 450mL. For those of us who think in ounces, it can be useful to understand how to convert mL to oz (milliliters to ounces). Here’s the calculation:

To convert milliliters (mL) to ounces, you can use the conversion factor of 1 mL being approximately equal to 0.0338 ounces. To illustrate this, let’s take the example of a 450 mL bottle of Naked Juice. First, multiply the volume in milliliters (450 mL) by the conversion factor (0.0338) to find the equivalent volume in ounces. The calculation would be as follows:

    450 mL * 0.0338 ounces/mL ≈ 15.23 ounces.

Therefore, the 450 mL bottle of Naked Juice is approximately equal to 15.23 ounces. When we round down, we get 15.2, which is why Naked Juice labels that use ounces say that a serving size is 15.2 ounces.

Naked Juice Nutrition Info – 2018 class action lawsuit for deceptive labeling

In 2018, a lawsuit was filed against PepsiCo for deceptive labeling of their Naked Juice line. According to the complaint, consumers were led to believe that their juices were comprised of only natural ingredients when in reality they contained artificial, synthetic, and GMO ingredients. The ingredients listed in the complaint included Fibersol-2, fructooligosaccharides, calcium pantothenate (synthetically produced from formaldehyde), and genetically modified soy. Naked Juice settled the lawsuit and paid $9 million to the class action group. The company also agreed to remove the phrase “All Natural” from Naked Juice labels. The fact that Naked Juice products contain these non-natural ingredients, calls into question whether these beverages can really be called “healthy”.

Where do the ingredients in Naked Juice products come from?

We couldn’t find any information on the Naked Juice website about where Naked Juice ingredients are sourced. If you’re someone who likes to know where the produce you put in your body was grown, this is problematic. You can achieve a beverage with similar or better nutrition and less sugar by making a smoothie from ingredients that you buy from your local farmer’s market.

Is Naked Juice good for weight loss?

In a word, no. Naked Juice is not good for you if you are trying to lose weight. Because Naked Juice products contain so much sugar, they are not a low calorie beverage. A 15.2-ounce bottle of Green Machine Naked Juice has 270 calories. If you are looking for the nutrition that comes from greens in a delicious drink, you can do better with a smoothie that you make yourself (smoothies retain most of the fiber of the fruits and vegetables that you use, while juices lose most of it).

Make your own smoothies instead of drinking Naked Juice

If weight loss is your goal, we recommend making your own weight loss smoothies instead of drinking Naked Juice. Smoothies are cheaper, generally higher in fiber and lower in sugar, and when you make it yourself, you know exactly what’s in it! Here are some key ingredients that may support weight loss efforts by boosting metabolism, promoting satiety, and providing essential nutrients:

    1. Green Tea: Green tea contains catechins and caffeine, which may help increase metabolism and fat oxidation. Brewed green tea or matcha powder can be added to your smoothies.
    2. Ginger: Ginger has thermogenic properties, meaning it can slightly raise body temperature and increase metabolism. It may also help suppress appetite and improve digestion.
    3. Cinnamon: Cinnamon can help regulate blood sugar levels, which can reduce cravings for sugary foods. It also adds a pleasant flavor to smoothies.
    4. Protein Powder: Adding a high-quality protein powder to your smoothies can help increase satiety and preserve lean muscle mass, which is important for maintaining a healthy metabolism.
    5. Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are rich in fiber and healthy fats, which can help you feel full for longer. They can absorb liquid and add thickness to your smoothies.
    6. Cayenne Pepper: Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, a compound that can slightly boost metabolism and increase fat burning. Start with small amounts, as it can be quite spicy.
    7. Leafy Greens: Adding nutrient-dense leafy greens like spinach or kale to your smoothies can provide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber while keeping the calorie count low.

Smoothies are a great way to support your weight loss goals. They are packed with nutrition, including fiber, vitamins and minerals that can help you feel fuller while providing sustained energy throughout the day. In contrast, Naked Juice is high in sugar and calories which makes it less suitable for those looking to shed a few pounds. A smoothie made from fresh fruit and/or vegetables will provide you with all the nourishment you need to stay healthy and energized without the sugar and calories found in Naked Juice. Smoothies are also an easy way to enjoy delicious flavors while keeping track of your calorie intake. So if weight loss is on your mind, reach for a smoothie instead of a Naked Juice! With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and nutritious weight loss drink that is sure to help you reach your goals.

Remember that while the ingredients mentioned here may have potential benefits for weight loss, it’s important to focus on overall healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, and a balanced diet to achieve sustainable results.
